Battle of the Network Stars #17: 1997-98 TV Season

It's been 37 years since Battle of the Network Stars debuted on November 13, 1976, pitting television stars from ABC, CBS and NBC against each other in various sporting events. So I thought it would be fun to revive this competition by featuring the stars of a different TV season every week.

NBC won the 16th Battle, and the following stars will be moving on to Round 2:

Woody Harrelson (Cheers/NBC)
Bea Arthur (The Golden Girls/NBC)
Estelle Getty (The Golden Girls/NBC)
Rue McClanahan (The Golden Girls/NBC)
Betty White (The Golden Girls/NBC)
Courteney Cox (Misfits of Science/NBC)
Valerie Harper (Valerie/NBC)
Stephanie Beacham (The Colbys/ABC)
Maxwell Caulfield (The Colbys/ABC)
Katharine Ross (The Colbys/ABC)
Emma Samms (Dynasty/The Colbys/ABC)
Alan Thicke (Growing Pains/ABC)
Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver/ABC)
Edward Woodward (The Equalizer/CBS)
Nicollette Sheridan (Knots Landing/CBS)
Robby Benson (Tough Cookies/CBS)

Now on to our 17th battle, which takes us back to the 1997-98 TV season when we welcomed the following 32 stars into our homes:

Now, this is my decade, the 90's!!!! So many great choices! I was a Dawson's Creek fanatic.

Glad you like this week's Battle, Matty. There will be many more featuring TV of the 1990s!

Everyone may know of Two Guys bc of Ryan but Nathan Fillion was that show too. It was after that show failed and Ryan overhauled his body that his career took off. If you had included Nathan I would have voted for Him!

Also on the show in an unappealing role was Richard Ruccolo who was smoldering in ALL OVER THE GUY - OMG! He was opposite writer and future Emmy winner for Scandal, Dan Bucatinsky. I never would have thought Dan would grow into such a handsome man.

Hey, Sean, Nathan Fillion didn't join the cast of Two Guys until its second season, so he might appear in the 1998-99 Battle. He could also show up for the TV series, Firefly, Desperate Housewives and Castle, so I'm sure you will get a chance to vote for him.
