Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Tunes: David Naughton is "Makin' It"

Each week I feature 10 groovy tunes that have appeared on Billboard's Hot 100 chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new songs will be added to the list.

Last week the Mamas & the Papas reclaimed the top spot with "California Dreamin'", which received 35 votes out of the 178 cast. And this week they will be challenged by Petula Clark, Barbra Streisand and David Naughton.

1) "California Dreamin'"/The Mamas & the Papas (Last Week #2, Week 19) - 17 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1966

2) "Walk On By"/Dionne Warwick (LW #3, W8) - 13 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1964

3) "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"/Bette Midler (LW #1, W3) - #34 the week of August 18, 1973

4) "Knowing Me, Knowing You"/ABBA (LW #5, W4) - #52 the week of August 13, 1977

5) "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me"/Dusty Springfield (LW #4, W5) - #42 the week of August 13, 1966

6) "I Couldn't Live Without Your Love"/Petula Clark (DEBUT) - #11 the week of August 13, 1966

7) "You and Me Against the World"/Helen Reddy (DEBUT) - #17 the week of August 17, 1974

8) "My Heart Belongs to Me"/Barbra Streisand (DEBUT) - #6 the week of August 13, 1977

9) "Makin' It"/David Naughton (DEBUT) - #15 the week of August 18, 1979

So... Karen & Richard didn't last very long on the list this time, eh? That's very sad. BUT, there are still several groovy choices to pick from, so this week I'm choosing The Mamas & The Papas, those fabulous Swedes -- ABBA, and Miss. Reddy.

Don't be too sad, Lance, I'm sure Karen and Richard will be making another appearance in the near future!
