10 Groovy Things to Do in June starring Well-Strung's Christopher Marchant and Charles Busch

Since there are so many groovy plays, musicals, concerts and events, this is my monthly list to help promote a few of them (click on a title for more information or to purchase tickets):

1) Broadway Musicals of 1988
June 3 at NYC's Town Hall
Howard McGillin, who holds the record for playing The Phantom (in The Phantom of the Opera) longer than any other actor, is one of the featured performers of this concert.

2) And The Winner Wasn't III
June 4 at Chicago's Sidetrack
This benefit for Pride Films & Plays features some of Chicago's best musical theatre and cabaret talent who pay tribute to songs from Tony Award-nominated musicals that did not take home the coveted trophy.

3) About Face Theatre's The Pride
June 6 - July 13 at Chicago's Victory Gardens Richard Christiansen Theater
About Face Theatre kicks off LGBTQ Pride Month with the Chicago premiere of Alexi Kaye Campbell's Olivier Award-winning drama, The Pride, directed by Bonnie Metzgar and featuring Patrick Andrews, John Francisco, Benjamin Sprunger and Jessie Fisher. Set in London, this time-shifting play maps the progression of the gay rights movement from the repression of the fifties to the freedom of today through the fate of two twisted love triangles.

4) A Divine Evening with Charles Busch
June 8 at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, MI
Join the legendary Charles Busch, the author and star of such plays and films as Die, Mommie, Die!, Psycho Beach Party and the Tony-nominated The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, in an evening of glamour, comedy and music as he regales us with stories of his life and fabulous career.

5) Something Wonderful! The Songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein
June 10 at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre
Presented as a gala benefit for the Irish Repertory Theatre, Tom Hanks will host this one-night-only concert with special guests Shirley Jones and Patrick Cassidy and featuring Paulo Szot, Howard McGillin and Max Von Essen.

6) A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
June 20 - 30 at Connecticut Repertory Theatre in Storrs, CT
Actor and film critic Steve Hayes (Tired Old Queen at the Movies) stars in this witty and irreverent farce featuring the music of Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim.

7) Frameline37: San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival
June 20 - 30
This film festival features some groovy new LGBT films, including Big Gay Love, G.B.F., The Go Doc Project, Hot Guys with Guns (starring General Hospital's Marc Anthony Samuel and Brian McArdle), I Am Divine, Interior. Leather Bar., Who's Afraid of Vagina Wolf? and many others.

8) Broadway Bares 23: United Strips of America
June 23 at NYC's Roseland Ballroom
From sea to shining sea, this year's Broadway Bares will crisscross the country in a racy, raucous road trip as more than 200 of New York's sexiest and most desirable dancers will discover – and uncover – amber waves and mountain majesties!

9) Go-Go’s/The B-52s
June 30 at Ravinia in Highland Park, IL
I would hope that everyone reading DEEP DISH knows who they are (if you don't, Google them).

10) Well-Strung, The Singing String Quartet
June 30 - September 7 at Provincetown's Art House
This hunky male singing string quartet returns to Provincetown with a new show as they put their own spin on the music of Mozart, Pink, Dvorak, Kelly Clarkson, Bach, Taylor Swift and more! Well-Strung stars first violinist Edmund Bagnell, second violinist Christopher Marchant, cellist Daniel Shevlin and violist Trevor Wadleigh.
