Groovy Giveaway: A Portrait of James Dean: Joshua Tree, 1951 on DVD

Courtesy of The Karpel Group and Wolfe Video, this week's Groovy Giveaway is three DVDs of A Portrait of James Dean: Joshua Tree, 1951, the intriguingly-imagined drama about a Hollywood icon that The Advocate calls "Breathtaking."

Written and directed by Matthew Mishory and anchored by a knockout performance from the stunningly handsome James Preston, A Portrait of James Dean: Joshua Tree, 1951 is a fearless, intimate portrait of the legendary ’50s movie star James Dean on the cusp of becoming both a great actor and an outsider icon.

Set in the early 1950s and focusing on Dean’s experiences as a rising star in Los Angeles, the film’s surreal and dreamlike vignettes blend biographical and fictionalized elements to present pivotal moments in his short yet remarkable life.

A Portrait of James Dean: Joshua Tree, 1951 will be available on DVD June 4. For more information, visit www.WolfeVideo.com or www.joshuatree1951.com. You can also follow the film and Wolfe Video on Facebook and Twitter:

Just finished watching this docu/movie and really impressed. The film is one of those rare treats that have you thinking about it hours later. Preston as Dean is intoxicatingly superb.
