And the Tony Award goes to . . .

Although I didn't make it to Broadway this season, I did see three shows during their pre-Broadway runs in Chicago - Kinky Boots, A Christmas Story: The Musical, and Steppenwolf Theatre Company's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? And I'm happy that Kinky Boots and Virginia Woolf each deservedly received many Tony Award nominations this morning (A Christmas Story was nominated as well, but I already gave it an award in 2011 for Best Merchandising of a Disappointing Show). I am surprised by the snub of Bette Midler for her performance in John Logan's new play, I'll Eat You Last, which also didn't receive any Tony love. I'm not sure what that's all about - since both she and the show got pretty good reviews - but obviously the Tony nominations committee was not impressed.

Now here is a complete list of the nominees with my predictions in pink - and, of course, I will be posting my review of the Tony telecast after it airs on Sunday, June 9:

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sutton Foster announced the Tony Award nominations this morning.
