Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Tunes: Dionne Warwick in Valley of the Dolls

Each week I feature 10 groovy tunes that have appeared on Billboard's Hot 100 chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new songs will be added to the list.

Last week Donna Summer reclaimed the top spot with "Last Dance", which received 30 votes out of the 180 cast. And this week she will be challenged by the Lesley Gore, ABBA and Dionne Warwick.

1) "Last Dance"/Donna Summer (Last Week #2, W31) - 21 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1978

2) "Crazy"/Patsy Cline (LW #1, W12) - 21 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1961-62

3) "One Less Bell to Answer"/The 5th Dimension (LW #4, W4) - #39 the week of February 27, 1971

4) "A Little More Love"/Olivia Newton-John (W2) - #5 the week of March 3, 1979

5) "Georgy Girl"/The Seekers (LW #5, W3) - #5 the week of March 4, 1967

6) "Blame It on the Bossa Nova"/Eydie Gorme (DEBUT) - #7 the week of March 2, 1963

7) "You Don't Own Me"/Lesley Gore (DEBUT) - #7 the week of February 29, 1964

8) "(Theme from) Valley of the Dolls"/Dionne Warwick (DEBUT) - #2 the week of March 2, 1968

9) "You Sexy Thing"/Hot Chocolate (DEBUT) - #6 the week of February 28, 1976

10) "The Winner Takes It All"/ABBA (DEBUT) - #10 the week of February 28, 1981

Something tells me my computer is messing up (again!)... which wouldn't surprise me in the least. It doesn't appear that my vote was registered, even though I tried (twice!) to vote. Has a Republican hijacked your blog, Marc?

At any rate, I WANT to vote for Miss. Cline, The 5th Dimension, and those oh-so-fabulous Swedes... ABBA!

As long as my vote isn't cast for W or that Mormon dude, we're all good. Sigh...

Hey, Lance, Miss Cline, the 5th Dimension and ABBA each have one vote at the moment, so hopefully they are yours. And don't worry, DEEP DISH appears to be totally Republican-free.
