Remembering Conrad Bain 1923 - 2013



Actor Conrad Bain, who died Monday at age 89, played Bea Arthur's neighbor and Rue McClanahan's husband, Dr. Arthur Harmon, on TV's Maude (1972-78), millionaire father Phillip Drummond on Diff'rent Strokes (1978-86), and Mr. Wells (the clerk at the Collinsport Inn) on the daytime soap opera, Dark Shadows, including the first episode on June 27, 1966.

Bain's film credits included Woody Allen's Bananas (1971), Up the Sandbox (1972) and Postcards from the Edge (1990). He also appeared on Broadway in the musicals, Candide (1956) and Hot Spot (1963) starring Judy Holliday.
