Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Tunes: Pat Benatar Hits Me with Her Best Shot

Each week I feature 10 groovy tunes that reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new songs will be added to the list.

Last week Patsy Cline claimed the top spot for the first time with "Crazy", which received 30 votes out of the 187 cast. And this week she will be challenged by Sonny & Cher, Helen Reddy and Pat Benatar.

1) "Crazy"/Patsy Cline (Week 2) - #14 the week of December 16, 1961

2) "Downtown"/Petula Clark (LW #1, W48) - 15 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1964-65

3) "Time After Time"/Cyndi Lauper (LW #2, W28) - 20 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1984

4) "I Say a Little Prayer"/Dionne Warwick (W2) - #7 the week of December 16, 1967

5) "Last Dance"/Donna Summer (LW #3, W21) - 21 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1978

6) "All I Ever Need Is You"/Sonny & Cher (DEBUT) - #8 the week of December 11, 1971

7) "Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red Dress)"/Helen Reddy (DEBUT) - #7 the week of December 15, 1973

8) "Nadia's Theme (The Young and the Restless)"/Barry De Vorzon and Perry Botkin, Jr. (DEBUT) - #8 the week of December 11, 1976

9) "Hit Me with Your Best Shot"/Pat Benatar (DEBUT) - #10 the week of December 13, 1980

10) "Don't Stop Believin'"/Journey (DEBUT) - #10 the week of December 12, 1981

Well, this week was interesting. Patsy and Miss. Clark were no-brainers. But, which one to choose for the 3rd? I finally decided on Nadia's Theme... it seems to fit my mood today (kinda mellow).

Have an awesome week, Marc!
