Remembering Andy Williams 1927 - 2012
Singer Andy Williams, who died Tuesday at age 84, will always remind me of my childhood Christmases. Back in the early 1970s I always watched his annual Christmas TV special, and I still listen to his 1963 Christmas album every holiday season. Mr. Williams also had his own television variety show, The Andy Williams Show, which aired on NBC from 1962-67 and 1969-71, and he appeared in The Man in the Moon, a 1960 TV special co-written by Mel Brooks and co-starring Diahann Carroll, Cloris Leachman and Tony Randall, and I'd Rather Be Rich, a 1964 romantic comedy with Sandra Dee and Robert Goulet.
Below you can listen to some of his memorable music:
"Danny Boy" (1961) - #64 on the Billboard Hot 100
"Moon River" (1962) - it was not released as a single
"Can't Get Used to Losing You" (1963) - #2 on the Billboard Hot 100
"Days of Wine and Roses" (1963) - #26 on the Billboard Hot 100
"Happy Holiday/The Holiday Season" (1963)
"It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" (1963)
"Dear Heart" (1964) - #24 on the Billboard Hot 100
"I'd Rather Be Rich" (1964) - with Robert Goulet
"Music to Watch Girls By" (1967) - #34 on the Billboard Hot 100
"Born Free" (1967) - it was not released as a single
"Happy Heart" (1969) - #22 on the Billboard Hot 100
"(Where Do I Begin?) Love Story" (1971) - #9 on the Billboard Hot 100

I've always insisted that Christmas is "the MOST wonderful time of the year"... and Mr. Williams always seemed to agree with me. I'm glad we have his recordings to help us remember him. Thank you, Marc, for posting such a beautiful collection!
I'm glad you liked my Andy Williams tribute, Lance!
