Groovy Giveaway: Tickets to Becoming Butch at the NY International Fringe Festival

Today I'm featuring a special Groovy Giveaway of a pair of tickets to Vincent James Arcuri's critically acclaimed one-man stage show, Becoming Butch, which will make its East Coast debut at the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival later this month. The tickets are for the Sunday, August 26th performance at 12 noon at The Steve and Marie Sgouros Theatre (115 MacDougal Street).

Written and performed by Arcuri and directed by Gary Riotto, Becoming Butch takes audiences through a rousing journey of baseball games, soap operas, speech lessons and the various hard-won, life-defining moments that have made Arcuri the man he is today. This wry and funny coming-of-age tale chronicles the life of Arcuri from his conservative Italian/Irish Catholic childhood in the rough and rugged world of Queens, New York, to his eventual move to West Hollywood, living an open and honest life among some actual "queens". Along the way, he discovers his own beat, finds his own voice (after months of speech lessons to "eliminate the flame while still keeping the spark") and re-defines what it truly means to be a man.

To enter to win this Groovy Giveaway, all you have to do is email your name and address to deepdishdrama@aol.com. Winners must have a US mailing address, and entries close at midnight on Monday, August 13 (CST).

Becoming Butch will also be performed on Friday, August 17th at 3pm; Tuesday, August 21st at 2:45pm; Thursday, August 23rd at 6:30pm; Friday, August 24th at 8:00pm; and Saturday, August 25th at 5:45pm. To purchase tickets or learn more about the show, go to www.BecomingButch.com. And anyone who says "Deep Dish" to Mr. Arcuri or Mr. Riotto after the show will receive a hug and a Butch temporary tattoo.
