Remembering Susan Tyrrell 1945 - 2012
"The last thing my mother said to me was, 'SuSu, your life is a celebration of everything that is cheap and tawdry.' I've always liked that, and I've always tried to live up to it" - Susan Tyrrell
The actress, who died on Saturday at age 67, appeared in many films, including Fat City (1972), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, Andy Warhol's Bad (1977), Forbidden Zone (1982), Angel (1984), Avenging Angel (1985), Tapeheads (1988), Big Top Pee-wee (1988), as Kris Kristofferson's extremely small wife Midge, John Waters' Cry-Baby (1990) as Johnny Depp's grandmother Ramona, and Relax... It's Just Sex (1998). She also starred in the 1981-82 ABC sitcom, Open All Night, about a family that ran a 24-hour convenience store.
Below you can watch Tyrrell in Fat City, Open All Night, Forbidden Zone, Cry-Baby and as a "mystery" guest - and the mother of "blacktress" Vaginal Creme Davis - on a 1990 episode of Decoupage!, a public access show with hostess Summer Caprice.
