Top 10 Tuesday of Groovy Tunes: And here’s to you, Mrs. Robinson

Each week I feature 10 groovy tunes that reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart during the last 50+ years. You can vote for your three favorites, and the five with the most votes move on to the following week when five new songs will be added to the list.

Last week Petula Clark reclaimed the top spot with "Downtown", which received 30 votes out of the 198 cast. And this week she will be challenged by Diana Ross, Donna Summer and Simon & Garfunkel's 1968 hit, "Mrs. Robinson", from the film, The Graduate.

1) "Downtown"/Petula Clark (LW #2, W20) - 15 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1964-65

2) "I Will Survive"/Gloria Gaynor (LW #3, W13) - #95 the week of June 2, 1979

3) "West End Girls"/Pet Shop Boys (LW #5, W4) - #14 the week of May 31, 1986

4) "Let's Hear It for the Boy"/Deniece Williams (W2) - #1 the week of June 2, 1984

5) "Vogue"/Madonna (LW #1, W3) - #1 the week of June 2, 1990

6) "It's My Party"/Lesley Gore (DEBUT) - #1 the week of June 1, 1963

7) "Respect"/Aretha Franklin (DEBUT) - #1 the week of June 3, 1967

8) "Mrs. Robinson"/Simon & Garfunkel (DEBUT) - #1 the week of June 1, 1968

9) "Love Hangover"/Diana Ross (DEBUT) - #1 the week of May 29, 1976

10) "Hot Stuff"/Donna Summer (DEBUT) - #1 the week of June 2, 1979

I'm sticking with Miss. Clark, Deniece and those ever fabulous Pet Shop Boys this week. Seems like a winning team to me...

Petula, Petula, Petula.... (I saw her in Paris in November; great concert, she still rocks, and I've just bought her new French album...knockout!) Lesley Gore sounded fun too though....
