Courtesy of Sony Masterworks, this week's Groovy Giveaway is a CD of Legends of Broadway - Liza Minnelli Live at the Winter Garden, which was recorded in January 1974 from her hit Broadway show that played a month of sold-out performances at the Winter Garden Theater - and for which she won a special Tony Award for "adding lustre to the Broadway season". The original album was released in April 1974, but had to be withdrawn from the market due to contractual conflicts over her performance of songs from the Cabaret film score. The recording was out of circulation until this long-awaited reissue, which is derived from the original master. It includes three live bonus tracks that were not part of the original LP: Stevie Wonder's "You and I" and two standards, "It Had to Be You" and "My Shining Hour". For more information on the CD, go to MasterworksBroadway.com.
To enter to win this Groovy Giveaway, all you have to do is email your name and address to deepdishdrama@aol.com. The winner must have a US mailing address, and entries close at midnight on Thursday, April 12 (CST).
If you would like to give away something groovy (DVDs, CDs, books, theatre/concert tickets) on DEEP DISH, please email me at deepdishdrama@aol.com.
Below you can watch Liza sing one of the songs featured on the CD - "Shine On, Harvest Moon" (this performance is from the 1980 HBO special, An Evening with Liza Minnelli).
