Have a 'Poseidon Adventure' on New Year's Eve

If you're still wondering what to do tonight - and you live in or around Chicago - I recommend that you check out Camp Midnight's third annual screening of the 1972 disaster flick, The Poseidon Adventure, at the Music Box Theatre (3733 N. Southport Ave.). The fun begins at 11 pm with a pre-show hosted by your Captain, Dick O'Day, and his hearty crew from Hell in a Handbag Productions, who will preside over a costume contest (1970s cruise wear is suggested). An audience interactive guide and running commentary will be provided during the film - and the screening will be timed so that theater patrons and their celluloid counterparts will celebrate midnight at the exact same moment.

Tickets are $27, which includes a complimentary champagne toast, a drink ticket and party favors. To purchase tickets, click here.

And since this is my final Dish of 2010, I want to thank my fabulous readers for their kind words, support and friendship - and wish you all a groovy new year!

At least they had something to do on New Year's and they were with Shelley Winters! Looks like fun.

It's great when I find out someone is sharing a brain cell with me. Last night, the hubby and I toasted the New Year with champagne at home and sang "Auld Lang Syne". At the conclusion, I said this is about the time the tidal wave should hit. He failed to see the humor in that.

Happy New Year, Marc!
