Deeper Dish with Chris Salvatore

There's just something about a guy with blue eyes--and the rest of 24-year-old Chris Salvatore ain't too bad either. This talented and openly gay young man is an actor, a singer and a songwriter whose first album, After All Is Said and Done, is now available on iTunes. He's also starring in the film, Eating Out: All You Can Eat, the third installment in the popular series, which will open in New York and San Francisco on October 9 and Los Angeles on October 16 (it will be released on DVD on November 10). I'm quite honored that Chris found some time from his very busy schedule to be a Deeper Dish interviewee (i.e. a fabulous person who will answer pop culture questions along with giving us some insight into their life). So without further adieu, let's get deeper with Chris Salvatore:

Let's start with your new movie, Eating Out: All You Can Eat. How did you get cast in the role of Zack?
I actually was approached by one of the casting directors on Connexion.org. If you aren't familar with Connexion, it's like the gay Facebook/dating website. I know it sounds sketchy, but it's a pretty classy website when it comes to some of the other sites! I was living in New York City at the time and was in the middle of getting ready to move to LA. I sent them an audition tape and got a call from the director who wanted to see me in person. I moved to LA a week later and landed the role! I was so happy it all worked since I moved kinda on a whim.

What did you enjoy most about working on the movie?
The film was such a blast to do. It was such a fast shoot only being 11 days, so everyone had to be on point and everyone certainly was. The cast is so funny, and I made some great new friends out of it! We hang out all the time!

What is your favorite song on your new album?
My favorite song is the title track, "After All Is Said and Done". The whole album is very personal to me. Every song has a story behind it, and they all are written about different relationships, friendships, and family. "After All Is Said and Done" was written shortly after a breakup with an ex-boyfriend, and every time I go back and listen to it, it still brings me back to that feeling I was going through at the time.

You used to live in New York and now you live in Los Angeles. In three words or less, how would you describe each city?
Los Angeles: Sunny, Beautiful, Relaxing
New York: Fast, Crazy, but Beautiful

What does the tattoo on your right bicep mean?
It is French and it says Fais Moi L' Amour. It means Make Love To Me.

In high school I was:
The Nerd! I was Choir President. High school wasn't too bad, but in elementary school and junior high I was terribly picked on and bullied. If only they could see me now, right?

The very first album, tape or CD that I purchased with my own money was:
I think it was Britney's debut album!

My very first concert was:
Britney's Oops!...I Did It Again tour. Yes, I was a huge BS fan and still am.

When I was growing up, I never missed a television episode of:
Big Brother! I was obsessed. I actually applied for the show one time and made it to the semi-finals! I was also a huge Buffy fan.

Today I never miss a television episode of:
I know it just started, but The Vampire Diaries is kick-ass!

If I had to gain 30 pounds for a role, I would eat:
OMG, I would love this role! I would eat so much cheesecake I would probably go into a cheesecake coma. AND peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I love them!

If I could sing a duet with anyone--living or dead--I would choose:
Taylor Swift! She is such a sweetheart.

And the song we would sing would be:
"You Belong With Me." I love this song.

My favorite song to dance to is:
Kelly Clarkson's "Since You Been Gone." I got the jump and down with hand pointing to the sky move in the bag!

What's next for Chris Salvatore?
I am currently working hard on a new album. This album is going to be more on the lighter side. Some good dance tunes and others to rock out to. I plan on doing my first music video in the near future! So stay tuned!

Thank you, Chris, for getting Deeper with us here on the Dish. To learn more about the man and his music, check out his MySpace page and his YouTube channel.
